UPDATE: Escapee from Moccasin Bend recaptured

UPDATE: Channel 3 is learning new details in the escape of a Jefferson County inmate from Moccasin Bend. 

Chattanooga Police was called to Moccasin Bend Road Thursday, October 4 around 6:00 p.m. when it was discovered that Daniel Ray Lockhart had escaped. 

Police were called back Sunday, October 7, just before noon,  to the area for a suspicious person matching Lockhart's description. 

Lockhart as found in the woods off of Browns Ferry Road and taken into custody. 

He is at the Hamilton  County Jail awaiting deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.


PREVIOUS STORY: An inmate who escaped from Moccasin Bend has been recaptured.

Daniel Ray Lockhart was recaptured Sunday by Chattanooga Police. 

The Jefferson County (TN) Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook Thursday that Lockhart had escaped.

The Jefferson County (TN) Sheriff's Office also stated that they had active warrants for Lockhart, who has a violent past and is known to carry a handgun.
