UPDATE: Motorcycle rider killed in Cummings Highway crash

UPDATE: Chattanooga Police have identified the people involved in a crash on Cummings Highway Monday.

Edward Nathan Denoyes, 40, was riding his motorcycle heading west on Cummings Highway.  He was under the I-24 underpass when the driver of a Buick pulled out into the intersection from the off ramp of I-24. 

Denoyes hit the back of the Buick. 

He was thrown from the motorcycle and landed on the roadway. 

He was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries. 

Police say witnesses report the motorcycle speeding before hitting the Buick. 

The people inside the Buick received minor injuries.

PREVIOUS STORY: Chattanooga police say one person was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle on Cummings Highway Monday.

It happened shortly after 6:00 pm in the 3500 block near I-24.

Details of what led to the crash have not been released, but police confirm that a person on a motorcycle was killed.

No names have been released at this time.

Police say the crash is under investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available.

The crash shut down both side of Cummings Highway. All lanes have reopened.
