Showers return Wednesday-Thursday before crisp fall air arrives!

Posted: Updated:

Good afternoon/evening Tennessee Valley,

It looks to be a quiet afternoon with a mostly cloudy sky. A southeast breeze looks likely through 6PM. Winds could gust to 21 mph through this evening. Temperatures tonight through Wednesday night will still be mild near 70.

Wednesday morning will bring a slight rain chance for those from I-75 and east. The better rain chance will be increasing in the evening, and overnight through Thursday morning. Umbrellas look likely Wednesday and Thursday and rainfall amounts of 1" to 2" looks likely for the Channel 3 viewing area. A breeze looks to pick up again on Thursday morning for counties in north Georgia including Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Gilmer, Fannin, Chattooga, Gordon and Pickens. These won't be tropical force winds, but wind gusts of 20-30 mph on Thursday looks possible as Michael tracks south of these counties.

As a strong cold front moves through on Thursday, we'll be left with temperatures dropping 25-30 degrees in parts from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning. Dew points lower on Friday, making Friday a perfect fall day with plenty of sun with highs near 71. It looks cool on Friday night, dropping to the upper 40s. The weekend overall looks dry, with only a small rain chance on Sunday evening. We'll need to watch for showers returning by next Monday.
