North Carolina State School Superintendent announces $141 million in school construction grants

North Carolina School Superintendent Mark Johnson announces $141 million in grant funds from the Needs-Based Public School Capital Fund will be awarded this year to school districts in 13 counties.
The grants will allow for construction of new school buildings in these economically distressed areas.
$15,000,000 will be given to Cherokee County for Early College High School, Alternative High School, and Career Academy.
The fund was created by the North Carolina General Assembly through revenue from the North Carolina Education Lottery. to assist school districts in lower-economic counties with their critical public school building capital needs.
