CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Two Chattanooga Police Department patrol vehicles will be donated to the Guaynabo, Puerto Rico Police Department.

CPD said the vehicles will help support the island as it continues to recover from Hurricane Maria.

The commissioner of Guaynabo asked law enforcement agencies across the United States to help them replace their patrol vehicles and ambulances after many of them were destroyed during the storm.

Chattanooga City Council approved the donation of a 2008 and 2010 Crown Victoria.

"CPD is proud to be able to assist fellow officers and citizens of Puerto Rico and we appreciate the support received from city council members to make this happen," said CPD Chief David Roddy

CPD said the decals and add-on equipment will be removed from the vehicles before they are shipped, and the municipality of Guaynabo will pay for the shipping and/or delivery of the vehicles to Puerto Rico.
