UPDATE: Reward offered in Polk County arson investigation

POLK COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

The Polk County Sheriffs Office and state arson investigators are asking for the public's help with finding the person responsible for several vehicle fires in Ducktown.

The sheriff's office said the victim has had multiple car fires at their home.

The smell of burned metal, rubber and plastic linger from a car that burned overnight. Investigators said the car was parked in a driveway of a home in Ducktown when someone set it on fire.

The owner of the car, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear for her life, said she was sleeping when it happened. It's the third time in two months she said she has woken up to flames spewing from her front yard.

"This arson, I feel, is very terroristic. I cannot imagine anyone going to this extent," the owner said. "I have been asked by several people 'aren't you scared?' I'm beyond scared. I'm absolutely terrified."

One of seven cameras on the owner's property caught a glimpse of who investigators believe to be the arsonist. It's a male who appears to be wearing a white shirt and overalls.

Polk County Sheriff's deputies said they haven't been able to connect evidence to the man behind the fires. It's why solving this crime has been challenging.

"I need some help. I'm begging anybody, please step up. Please," said the car owner.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information in the case.
