Good Thursday. Now THIS is August weather. The humidity is back. Highs will be in the low 90s across the Tennessee Valley, but it will feel like it is in the upper 90s near 100 degrees with the increased moisture in the air. Skies will also be mostly cloudy with a very slight chance for a stray shower or two.
Friday will see the onset of the rain and thunderstorms. Right now the storms are in west Tennessee. The front bringing those storms will move into and settle in the Valley Friday afternoon keeping the high in the mid 80s and bringing widespread showers and storms. Heavy rain and lightning will be the main threats with these storms, but the Storm Prediction Center has us under a marginal risk for severe storms producing damaging winds and hail so we will be watchful Friday.
Saturday looks like a rain out. We will have showers and storms popping up in the morning, and then increasing in coverage as we move through the day. Periods of heavy rain and lightning again will be the main threats.
Sunday we may not have the same widespread coverage of showers and storms as Saturday, but we will still have them popping up on and off through the day. Temps over the weekend will range from the low 70s in the morning to the mid 80s in the afternoon.
The front will still be parked over us Monday and Tuesday keeping the potential for heavy rain in the forecast to start next week. It looks as though dry weather will not return until the front moves out on Wednesday.
Areas of flash flooding will be an issue with this system as we are looking at possibly 3"-4" of rain Friday through Tuesday.
